Bee Blocks and Misc.

Hi Blog Friends!

It's been so long since I posted. Life has been so hectic.  There was the last day of school, more tee ball, after my parents stayed for two weeks, my inlaws came for a few days.. some blog changes, some appointments, and a few frivolous projects.. but unfortuantely, no big quilt sewing progress.  Need to finish up my last bee block, I'm a little behind on that!  And get some work done on my Rainy Days and Mondays quilt top.

Speaking of Bee Blocks, look what came in the mail last week!  Mail from the Southern Hemisphere is just the BEST! :o)  My bee block from Tartan Kiwi.. or Juliet.  Isn't it just gorgeous?
And here is the one I received from Cat.  Also gorgeous.  I'm so glad I joined this bee.  It's been so much fun.

Can't wait for the next round.

I have managed to make another pillow case--for my son's pre-K teacher this time, who is a Peanuts/Snoopy fan, as part of her end of year thank you gift.  I don't know how some of you find the time and motivation to get entire quilts made for teachers!  I really admire you!!

Used a Pinterest idea to make a housewarming gift for my bro. and SIL who just moved.

A set of coasters that involved black tiles from Home Depot, Mickey Mouse scrapbook paper, and Mod Podge.  They are Disney superfans and even have their bathroom decorated with a Disney theme.

Painted the edge of the black tiles, which were white, with black glitter paint.

The scrapbook paper I found was a little thick, if I do it again, I think I'll look for thin paper.
They are wrapped and ready to be boxed and mailed.

The last day of school was a big deal.. bittersweet.. off to KG next year! We made some life long friends there.  And have already gone on two "class" play dates to the park.  Here they are, looking at their "books" that the teacher presented each of them with, with pictures of them doing all of the special things they did throughout the year.  A wonderful, sweet memory book.  The kids loved them.

Last Saturday we had a birthday party and the last tee ball game on the same day.  In 100+ degree heat.  Ugh, it was hot!

A vanilla cone was in order..

Been trying new recipes..

Baking for a friend's birthday, with the help of my sous-chef..

Decorated a cupcake like a sunflower and put it in a sweet little cupcake keeper I found in a discount shop.

After the sous-chef had one as a treat for helping, I froze the rest, to be thawed out, frosted and given to the 5 year old on an as-needed basis as I am trying to lose weight.

Speaking of weight, a while back, I needed to change my blog around.. the world clock at the top quit working and disappeared.. what to put there??

So...

I figured I would humiliate myself and put my actual WEIGHT on a ticker, and that might motivate me to lose weight.  I had been thinking about doing that for a while, so I took it as a sign that now was the time.

I started last week and have lost almost 5 pounds, just by counting calories and eating better.. i.e. NOT snacking.  Therefore, cupcakes in freezer.

Oh, also got roped into hosting a Tupperware party when I attended a party with a friend last week.  Ugh, I've never hosted an at-home party before.  I wish you all lived close enough to come.  If for no other reason than to look at all of the stuff and eat chips and salsa. ;)  And talk fabric, and quilty things. :)

So let me tell you.. they are having some buy one/get one free sales right now, lasting until the weekend, if anyone's interested.  Even on some sets. Just in case anyone is in the market for any new Tupperware.  Here is the web site.

Looks like I'll be cleaning house all day tomorrow for the party Friday evening.  Boo cleaning, yay sewing.

Oh, and Buster decided to get a hot spot on his leg this last week, that will not heal!  Had to go back to the vet yesterday to get it rewrapped..

He was wearing the cone/satellite dish but his chin was staying wet all the time from the drool and smelling a little mildewy.. so we took it off, which led to him licking his sore, etc.

Cone back on.. found him curled up like a donut, foot INSIDE the cone licking his sore anyway.  That is the biggest cone they have, and he can outsmart it, so now he just has it heavily wrapped.  Oy.  Here are my two angels at the vet.

Oh and I forgot to mention.. my SWOON quilt, which has been patiently waiting its turn at the long-armer's is going to get quilted tomorrow!!  I'm so excited!!  I'll for sure post pics of it when it is done.

If you read to the end of this long rambling post, I really need to send you some kind of Thank You gift. lol

See you next time I come up for air! :o)

You are so brave! I don't even tell my Hubby what the scale (that hates me) says.
I wished I lived closer too. I'd buy some tupperware, but only from you.
Have a great summer!

Baseball has been keeping us quite busy too!

Sorry to read about Buster's hot spot! uggh!
I can never keep a cone on Sherman or Leroy either! They just don't make them in Newfie size!

I think I like not to have to make any presents for the teachers, I remember that if they got something all the parents would make something together, like one shawl where the kids would put handprints on, not something individual by each parent. And that ended with primamry school.
Those cupcakes look great - it's a shame to put them in a freezer, I wouldn't mind help you eat them.

Welcome back stranger. So, yu've been sitting around with your feet up then... ;o)

No way would I ever post my weight. Age, yes, weight, not happening! I have finally started to lose some weight. Not much, but, it's started going down. Summer is easier, since it's too hot to cook or eat. Good luck!

I made it ;-) Since you are trying to loose weight you can send me all the chocolats from your house as a thank you gift ;-)
This was a cool post and you have been a busy woman! Good luck with your goal. You can do it.
Have fun with the party (you always clean afterwards ;-).

Wow - BUSY!!! great blocks, baking, coasters - everything! I'm just about to post about the next round... life is keeping us all waaaaay too busy! xx

Omg where to begin? I've missed you, the bee blocks = jealous, coasters are kickass, laughed about the weight ticker and think I should join you now that I'm losing the baby weight. Agh! But, no scales in my house, so it would be based on clothing size. What do you think? xoxo Becca

I made it to the end....You have been busy with a lot of good things happening. Blogging should take a back-seat to actually living your life!! I haven't been blogging as much either because life does beckon and lately I just find I don't have a lot of time available. I do read the blogs on my list but don't always comment either.

Where to begin and will probably forget something....
Your weight chart (gasp)...I could never do that! I love frozen cookies, never tried a frozen cupcake, so they would probably be safe there, maybe. The coasters are adorable. I have seen something similar and thought it looked like a fun thing to do. The block you recieved is beautiful!

love love juliet's block

Ok, I'm just plum tuckered out after reading your post....I think I need to take a nap for you!! HA!

Little ones about make for a super busy life....I think your cute little pillowcase was a nice gift...as for a whole quilt some do, I think that is a little much, but to each his own!

Maybe summer will be a slower pace for your.....you have been missed!

Hi Kelli,
My block is on its way to you on MOnday.
I do apologise for being late.
Your email bounced back to me.
Wow! You've been busy.

Wow! (Really that's all I need to say isn't it? LOL!!) I really love the star block you received from the bee. I need to find those cupcake holders. And freezing cupcakes - why didn't I think of that! instead of eating them all. LOL! Good luck with the diet..er healthy eating. We all could use some of that. And as usual your little boy is too cute!!

Those coasters are such a terrific idea. I might have to copy it :)

Aww, poor buster. But clever little thing. My cat once pulled out his catheter (ouch!) with a cone on his head. So the vet put a satelite dish size one on instead. The didn't believe me when I told him he woul've used his paw to do it. Sometimes our pets are just too smart for their own good :)

Good luck on the weight loss. Congrats on what you've lost so far

Hi again Kelli, pop over to my blog when you have a minute. You have been awarded the Liebster Award ;)

Last summer, Dolly got hot spots a lot. Had me very worried, especially as the cream the vet recommended cost $22.00 a tube, ouch. So I started giving her veggie oil, about a tablespoon or 2, over her food on a regular basis. Also I decreased the number of baths she received. Early in March, when the first heat wave hit, she got shaved and I continue to clip her longer hair. I think all of these things have helped her dry skin tremendously. Hope Buster feels better soon.
