Tools, Baby!!
7:49 PM
This week, I got tired of working on my nephew's Christmas quilt.. I think the black and white color scheme was getting to me.. I love color. So I took a break (only four blocks left, so I'm sure I'll get it done in time, hopefully.. fingers crossed.) to work on something more colorful.. and polka-dotty. :)
So I started making a baby quilt out of some robot fabric and lots of dots, and even a tiny bit of gingham. Can you tell where this is going?
The best part is.. I'm only using fabrics that I already had. Except for the white. I ran out and had to get a little more.
I'm drawn to colorful fabrics, so this is some super fun sewing!
Yum.
Only two more tools to go after this one..
I thought about a big button, or even a covered button to embellish the pliers, but since it's a baby quilt, I decided against it, and just sewed a gathering stitch in the shape of a circle, gathered it a little and filled it with a tiny bit of fiberfill, and then appliqued it down with a zigzag stitch.
It's all turning out to be lots of fun. :) This is what I have done so far. I think I'm going to write this one into a pattern and put it on Craftsy. I'm anxious to see what it will look like quilted and done.
Hope you're having a great week!
xoxo
p.s. I almost forgot! Monday, I looked on the Fat Quarter Shop website and there was Mod GeoCruiser!!! I died.. and quickly came back to life.. and died AGAIN. I still can't believe it!!! Thank you all for all of your kind words and support about that quilt and its pattern. It's definitely living a life of its own! xoxo

Three tools down, two more to go. And then I should probably get back to work on my nephew's punctuation quilt, so it's done by Christmas! I can't let my short attention span derail that project. Why do I always want to start new things before I ever finish the old ones??Hope you're having a great week!

Those tools are sew cute and colourful! And I love tools! I can see why you jumped into this project, Kelli. It's sweet!
I think most of us do that thing where we start something else before finishing our current project. Your tools are too cute :) And of course I'm so excited for you and your Mod GeoCruiser fame! Congratulations!
Cool! So happy to see Mod GeoC on Fat Quarter shop! And your new tool quilt is very cute.
Your tool quilt looks like it will be adorable. Lucky baby!
This is an adorable tool quilt. And as for starting new projects? I think it is the lure of perfection, before any adjustments have had to be made or before you run out of fabric or before the points do not meet just right or before the colors run away from you. It is also like the reluctance to dig the knife into that freshly opened jar of peanut butter with the perfect swirl on the surface. But once you do it is so enjoyable and you are glad you did it!
The geocruiser *is* super cool. :D What a fun moment for you!
I love this project....it is just adorable!
Look at you go, Girl! The tools are wonderful.....will you make a new pattern for this too? You must be so proud to see your Mod GeoCruiser on FQS!!!

Love the tools! And jumping to another project is the sign of a creative mind. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!
