Busy Holiday Week!

Well, Halloween has come and gone and wow what a busy week it was! My son's Splat the Cat costume ended up turning out pretty cute, a little rough around the edges, but when we trick or treated his Kindergarten teacher who lives near us, she recognized who he was dressed as right away.  So I will call that a win. ;) She is just the best teacher ever!

Splat has very round eyes, a rectangular body, skinny arms and legs, and a long LONG tail.

I might have exaggerated the eyes a bit.. they were pretty big, but fun to make!  The skinny arms and legs were courtesy of some black long johns.

I glued grey felt on some cheap black gloves, and made some clumps of black fur for the tops of his hands and feet, and hot glued the hand ones to the back of the gloves, and sewed a ribbon onto the back of the ones for the feet and laced them into the shoe laces.

I didn't figure the tail out until Halloween day, when I found the perfect boa at my local craft store, and wrapped it around black wreath wire and attached it with a zig-zag stitch in two different places.

Haha!

I could have cut the hole for his face more precisely, made it a little too big, but all in all, I think he made a pretty good Splat, and he loved it.. and that's all that matters.  Even if I see all of the things I could have/should have done better.

He had fun trick or treating with two of his friends. :)

..and Buster, who was a Rufferee.

..and then waiting for the door bell to ring so he could pass out candy. :)

I wonder what he will want to be for Halloween next year?

Splat the Cat and the Rufferee are both adorable. Great work Mom!

You did an AMAZEBALLS job Kelli! I am glad you were able to be there with him for Halloween. Next year, you will be going to Houston though! I was a little overwhelmed visiting with people and didn't make it to every booth, but, the photos you shared were AWESOME! I am so happy for you! I am sure MANY patterns were sold there!

Hope splat has a suitably big haul!
