Captain Jack Pirate Ship Quilt (and a giveaway)
11:44 AM
Ahoy landlubbers! Happy halfway to Friday day. :)
I realized the other day that I never did blog about a few of the quilts I made for Quilt Market last October. I think I posted them on Instagram from there, but that was it. Today, I wanted to post about my Captain Jack Quilt, and how it came to be and give away the leftovers of the fabric that I made it with.
It all started when Jina from Riley Blake asked me if I had any designs that might work for a couple of the fabric lines they were taking to market. I didn't have any on hand but started doodling with the Blackbeard's Pirates line in mind and came up with this pirate ship quilt.
I called it Captain Jack, because well.. you know...
I mean...
Oops, I was blogging about a quilt wasn't I. haha
Blackbeard's Pirates is such a cute fabric line. My son claimed this one as his own before I had even finished it!
I loved the skull and crossbone print and really wanted a skull in the sail. It is a lap quilt and goes together really quickly. I think I pieced it in about a day or day and a half. I think there's a dog bone (the treat kind for a dog--not an actual dog's bone) on the bark in this pic at the bottom there.. kind of fits the pirate theme. ha!
It was a hit at market, and a couple of shops kitted it. The pattern is available in my Craftsy shop, or maybe even at the random local quilt shop, which I still can't believe! So fun!
This was the cover shot I used for the pattern:
I bagged up some of the scraps from three different quilts that I made to give away because I am starting to be buried alive in scraps. I kept just a few to use in scrappy projects but I have this 0.8 lb bag of Blackbeard's Pirates scraps (some are larger pieces) to give away.
All you have to do is leave me a comment and let me know you're interested. I'll pick a winner next Wednesday.

Great little quilt, I love it! Fabric scraps are always welcome here, lots of children's and baby quilts to be made.
Super cute! What's funny is being a different kind of a nerd my mind thought the quilt was named after the Doctor Who character of Captain Jack Harkness :)

Have a little boy coming soon and would love to have these to help put together a scrappy quilt for him. :) BIG fan of Pirates of the Caribbean and hope to get my little boy started right in a love for pirates. :) Maybe I'll have to make him a big one like the one you made when he gets a bit older.
