Jane's Cross Quilt (+ a giveaway)

This is another quilt I made for Riley Blake to take to Quilt Market in October and never blogged about. Jane's Cross was inspired by the fabric line Ardently Austen, by The Quilted Fish.

I called it Jane's Cross after the fabric line and also because the blocks ended up reminding me of medieval crosses of some sort.

photo from fat quarter shop

I love the Ardently Austen fabric line so it was lots of fun to sew up! The text prints contain Jane Austen's words. The teacup and teapot print is adorable, and I loved the cameos.. I just loved it all. :D

Chain stitching was def. my friend, and the big blocks came together fairly quickly.

Here's the quilt on my couch..

I barely finished it in time! Here it is in the booth.

And then back home again. :)

The pattern is in my Craftsy shop and I also have a bag of scraps to give away of Ardently Austen. :)
Just leave a comment and let me know if you're interested in the scraps and I will pick a winner next Wednesday!

Thanks for stopping in! Thanks everyone for coming by to enter!

***Edit: The winner of the scraps is Betty (Betz2u) Congrats Betty, and thanks for entering!

Love the quilt. It does remind me of medieval times. I would be more than happy to re home your scraps as I'm working on a scrappy star quilt and these colors would be perfect with what I already have.

Thanks for the chance - Rina

I am a crazy Jane Austen fan and would love the fabrics! Your quilt is perfect.

I'm always interested in scraps and make lots of things with them. Right now I have a stack of about 30 scrappy pot holders that I plan to pass out to family, friends, and acquaintances. I think of it as "spreading happiness". Of course, in my world, happiness is fabric cut into pieces and sewn back together! I don't have any of these lovely fabrics so the scraps would add extra variety and interest to my scrappy projects. Thanks for sharing!

I am not a Jane Austen fan, but I have a friend who is, so we visited the Jane Austen museum in Bath, England. It was okay, but what was really cool was the Fashion Museum there in the same city. Showcased was fashion through the ages, and of course, the empire-waist gowns that were worn during Jane Austen's age. (I preferred those, even over the modern dresses, because they are so classic and pretty!) Thanks for sharing your scraps!

This quilt is beautiful, Kelli!! The fabric is lovely, too. My daughter is a Jane Austen fan so I'd love to win that bag of scraps. Hmm, wonder what I'd do with them? Maybe work them into the scrap quilt I'm trying to build for her? You know, made of scraps from dresses I've made throughout her childhood. Anyway, love seeing your talent blossoming so beautifully! I know Grandma Lee would be pleased!

Oh, what fun! I used up all of my Ardently Austen, every little bit, and would adore having your scraps. I'd put them to good use in making some little Dresdens--the darling pattern in the Quilters Planner has me hooked on them and makes excellent use of 2.5" squares.

I love your quilt! It is going on my wish list right away.

Georgia said...

This old English teacher would love those scraps! Love your quilt!

Huge Jane Austin fan so of course I would love the scraps. Lovely quilt. Congratulations on the new pattern!

Bonnie said...

Those fabrics are wonderful. How fun to include some sentences from say, Sense and Sensibility, in a quilt? Or whichever books the text comes from. I love the colors too. So count me in on the drawing.

Of course I'd like a free bag 'o scraps! Perhaps I need to pursue a gig sewing for others and by a deadline; I'm mostly externally motivated anyway being a 'people pleaser' myself. Then I could actually finish things! It would be like school term papers, but way more fun. Followed you from over at A Quilted Passion's linky party.

The colors are so beautiful that I hope I win.
