Minecraft Mondays #3: Skeleton

It's Monday again already, and this week's Minecraft Monday block is the Skeleton. :)

This one almost didn't get done in time, due to Dr. appts and dentist appts, and school plays, and after school mathletes etc. AND my son saw a pic of the quilt I had tucked into my purse for when I need to refer to it if I'm looking for fabric shades! Luckily it was all folded up and he didn't really get what it was.  I did some fast talking and hopefully he didn't catch on. (I told you.. he's always in my business! lol)If this stays a surprise until Oct. it will be a MIRACLE! I'm going to have to work on being a lot more stealthy.

Anyway thanks for coming by! If you're sewing along, I look forward to seeing your blocks! Eileen and Anita are still sewing along, and here are their Creepers. :) I love seeing their blocks each week!

The skeleton block is also super easy, requiring just three fabrics and maybe an hour or so of your time (or a half hour if you're speedy).

I started by choosing a shade of light gray, a tiny bit (scrap) of medium gray and a little bit of black, which I had on hand (leftovers & scraps).

Then I cut:

Black:

(1) 2 x 16 1/2"

Medium Gray:

(1) 2 x 3 1/2"

Light Gray:

(1) 2 x 3 1/2"
(2) 2 x 6 1/2"
(1) 2 x 16 1/2"
(1) 6 1/2 x 12 1/2"

Then I stitched together the two 2 x 16 1/2" strips like so..

..so that I had a 3 1/2 x 16 1/2" strip of back and light gray. Next I diced it into:

(1) 3 1/2 x 9 1/2"
(2) 3 1/2 x 3 1/2"

Then I laid it out to make sure I had all the pieces...

...and stitched it together in the order of the numbered arrows.

Skeleton!!!

I'm still sashing as I go, so I cut another 5 1/2 x 12 1/2" rectangle of black and attached him.

Making progress slowly but surely.

Come by next week, when I'll be stitching up Alex, and completing row 1. (I had to google the name of Alex, too.)

Happy Minecraft Monday!

Whoop! I missed this yesterday because the kids had a day off school but I'm getting onto this at nap time for the littlest one today! :) Thank you Kelli!

:D So fun to watch these growing!

I think you need to redraw the pattern in invisible ink...
