Minecraft Mondays #9: Ocelot
12:00 AM
Happy Monday! :D
This week's block is the Ocelot. I can't believe I'm almost halfway through the blocks!
For the Ocelot, I used two shades of yellow, some white, a patch of brown for the nose, and some green for the eyes. My son wanted a different color green this week so he picked a green color from my scrap bin.
Cutting:
Light Yellow: (2) 2 x 2"
(2) 2 x 3 1/2"
(1) 2 x 5"
(1) 3 1/2 x 5"
(1) 3 1/2 x 6 1/2"
(1) 3 1/2 x 11"
Dark Yellow: (3) 2 x 3 1/2"
(1) 3 1/2 x 5"
(1) 2 x 11"
Green: (2) 2 x 2"
White: (1) 2 x 2"
(1) 3 1/2 x 3 1/2"
Brown: (1) 2 x 2"
Prep:
As shown in the picture below:
Stitch (2) 2 x3 1/2" rectangles each of darker yellow and lighter yellow together on short edges, alternating colors.
Stitch (2) 2 x 2" squares of lighter yellow and green together.
Stitch 2 x 2" square of white and brown together.
Stitch 2 x 3 1/2" rectangle of darker yellow to 3 1/2 x 5" rectangle of lighter yellow as shown below.
Assembly:
Using the segments you pieced above, and the other cut pieces, stitch together in order of the numbered arrows.
And the Ocelot is done! :) If you're sashing as you go, cut your strip of 5 1/2 x 12 1/2" of sashing and stitch to the right edge of the Ocelot, and he'll be ready for next week's block.
Lot's of block sightings from last week, and I still can't get over how many people are making two and even three quilts! :D
Thanks for tagging your pics with @rnkelli and/or the #minecraftmondays and #minecraftquilt hashtags so I can see your blocks!
Meet you back here next Monday with Enderman. My son is deciding if he wants to change the eyes to include some color. We'll see. I'll include both ways in the tutorial so you can choose which you like better. :D
Have a great week! See you over on Instagram. :) (If you're not on IG and would like me to share your block progress, you can email your photos to me -- rnkelli@aol.com -- if you'd like.)
xoxo

*Update: I'm making video shorts of these tutorials to put on youtube. Come join the fun. They're easy to pause and sew along to, if you like to sew from a laptop or tablet. :) The ocelot's tutorial video can be found *HERE*.

Great blocks and wonderful directions! I've got 1-3 done and am going to do a group cut and sew to get up to date (hopefully) this week! These are so easy and quick to sew. Thank you so much for this sew-along!
Enderman looks very sinister...
OMG, OMG, OMG. My 11 year old grandson lives for Minecraft! I just discovered your blog, but I can't wait to catch up on this QAL. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
