Minecraft Mondays #11: Squid

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a Happy Easter! :D

This week I'm making the squid.

He has a few more pieces than last week, but he's still pretty simple.

I made him using blue, white, black and gray.

Blue: (2) 3 1/2 x 12 1/2"
      (1) 3 1/2 x 5"
      (2) 2 x 5"
      (2) 2 x 3 1/2"
      (1) 2 x 6"

White: (2) 2 x 3 1/2"
       (1) 2 x 4"

Black: (1) 2 x 4"

Gray: (1) 2 x 3 1/2"
      (1) 2 x 6"

Prep: Stitch your 2 x 4" rectangles of black and white together on the long edge, then cut into (2) 2 x 3 1/2" rectangles as shown below.

Stitch your 2 x 6" rectangles of blue and gray together on the long edge, then cut into (3) 2 x 3 1/2" rectangles as shown below.

Assembly: Assemble the pieces indicated by the gray arrows first, then assemble in order of the numbered arrows.

Squid. Or Silly Squid. :D

It's been a busy week with some home repairs going on around here, and Easter and all, so I don't have the show and tell pictures ready for this post. But I've loved seeing all of your blocks! I've heard from a couple of people who are just starting, and a few people who started late are now all caught up so I'll have lots of pictures to share next week, along with the sashed third row!

Next week will be the final third row block, the witch. :D

Thanks for coming by! Happy Easter!

*Edit 1/20/2020: Be sure to always use scant quarter inch seams and if you'd like to see blocks from the other sew alongs, come join the sew along group on my FB page! And if you make any of these blocks, come find me on IG @kellifanninquilts, I'd love to see!

*Update: I'm making video shorts of these tutorials to put on youtube. Come join the fun. They're easy to pause and sew along to, if you like to sew from a laptop or tablet. :) Squid's tutorial video can be found *HERE*.

Squid is either half-cut (in which case you need to search his (insert the right word for a squid's home here) for bottles...) or he's had a nasty bump to the back of his head and is feeling a little dizzy! He's really quite appealing, though!

I decided to sew along with you! Great idea!! I printed the quilt and I was hiding from my son, He loves minecraft and would be I good birthday present, but he found the picture of the quilt and asked very happy if I will make a quilt!!! I couldn't lie, so he is very excite and thinking the order of the blocks for his quilt. I didn't make any block yet, but I will send pictures from my blocks soon.

I've almost caught up! I'm making two (1 for my daughter and 1 for my son). They have requested some custom blocks for their quilts so I'm not doing all of them. Of course custom means I have to figure out how to design them too!! Eek! Anyway I love this series so much.
