Minecraft Mondays: Bonus Blocks---Chicken Palooza

This is turning out to be the year of Minecraft! ;) Thanks for sticking around! :D I promise I have some other non-Minecrafty things to blog about and will very SOON, (like later this week!) but Minecraft Mondays will be living on for the time being, with extra block options for the sew along, the ender dragon for my son's quilt back, and the rest of the Minecraft font letter blocks. I'll probably be posting this extra stuff more often than just on Mondays, because I know some of you are anxious to finish your quilts!

The title of the post kind of took the mystery out of this week's extra block. Or should I say blocks.

That's right, it's chicken palooza. Both @little.emerz and @wisemantammy over on Instagram gave me permission to write up the tutorials for their chicken blocks that they worked up for their quilt tops already, and since each one is different, I figured I would include them both. Options. :) I love options!

Then when I was drawing up the diagrams for their blocks, I came across the chicken block I had drawn up when drawing up the first 20 blocks. I had forgotten all about it! I wasn't sure if my son would like it or not, or if the feet made it look like a duck, so I left it out of the original 20 for the quilt top. When I showed it to him today, guess which one he picked? THAT one. So I drew up the instructions for that one, too.

Thus, THREE chicken blocks. Chicken Palooza.

Okay.

Here goes.

Chicken Number One, brought to you by @little.emerz. (go check out her Instagram, she has lots of other extra blocks that she has given me permission to share so be watching out for those soon!)

Cutting:

White: (1) 3 1/2 x 12 1/2"
       (2) 5 x 5"
       (2) 3 1/2 x 5"
       (2) 2 x 3 1/2"

Black: (2) 2 x 2"

Lighter Yellow: (1) 2 x 6 1/2"

Darker Yellow: (1) 2 x 6 1/2"

Red: (1) 3 1/2 x 3 1/2"

Assembly: Assemble each of the numbered arrow sections first, then assemble according to the large gray arrows.

********************************

Chicken Number Two, brought to you by Tammy Wiseman (@wisemantammy on Instagram), who also sent me some of her extra blocks to share, including a sword and a pick axe! :D So many options, between all of us, I bet we could make a king size quilt! ;)

Cutting:

White: (1) 5 1/2 x 12 1/2"
       (2) 3 1/2 x 7 1/2"
       (1) 2 1/2 x 2 1/2"
       (1) 1 1/2 x 4 1/2"
       (2) 1 1/2 x 3 1/2"

Black: (2) 2 1/2 x 2 1/2"

Lighter Yellow: (1) 1 1/2 x 6 1/2"

Darker Yellow: (1) 1 1/2 x 6 1/2"

Red: (1) 2 1/2 x 4 1/2"

Assembly: Assemble pieces indicated by the small gray arrows first, then assemble in order of the numbered arrows.

*********************************

Chicken Number Three, brought to you by yours truly, requires just a little bit of an extra color, and may or may not resemble a duck sticking its tongue out if made in other colors...and is the one my son picked. Who knew! This will be on his pillow sham. :D With another block that we haven't determined yet.

Cutting:

White: (2) 2 x 6 1/2"
       (1) 3 1/2 x 3 1/2"
       (2) 2 x 2"
       (2) 3 1/2 x 5"
       (3) 2 x 3 1/2"

Black: (2) 2 x 2"

Lighter Yellow: (1) 2 x 6 1/2"
                (2) 2 x 2"
                (2) 2 x 3 1/2"

Darker Yellow: (1) 2 x 6 1/2"

Red: (1) 3 1/2 x 3 1/2"

Aqua: (2) 2 x 6 1/2"
      (2) 2 x 2"
      (1) 2 x 3 1/2"

Assembly: Assemble each of the numbered arrow sections first, then stitch them together according to the large gray arrow.

And there you have it! A party of chickens. A flock. :D You can pick your favorite and sew it up. :)

Stay tuned for some other extra blocks, including ghast, ender dragon, and more! They will all be linked over on the sew along page as they're posted. Here are some images that you can pin, if you'd like. The chickens are numbered wrong, I just noticed. Doh!

Happy Monday, mining friends! I'm excited to see some of your quilt tops over on Instagram! :D This has just been so much fun and I can't thank you enough for sewing along and sharing all of your pictures! I'll do a post soon with some of the quilt tops I've seen over there!

Have a great day!

Omg this one is adorable! I think I'll do the extra blocks as pillows, with letters on the back side. I hope you're doing 6 extras, I need to spell Nathan!
