Harry Potter Week 3: Hedwig
12:01 AM
**Some of you have asked about the border/sashing measurements, b/c you'd like to cut those background strips first. I've added it to the sew along page here.**
**Also, a question about the bundle and AccuQuilt.. I know there's enough fabric for the quilt, I've never run short and usually have a little extra, but I'm not sure how much waste there is with AccuQuilt, so I can't really say if you'll need to order more fabric. I wish I could be of more help there!**
Happy Weekend! It's Sew Along Saturday #3 today. Say hello to Hedwig!
Okay, deep breaths. She looks complicated but she's really NOT. You've got this!
Hedwig is the first block that is made up of ONLY squares and rectangles, no clip & flips this week! I love her! She does have quite a few pieces, but keep in mind it's all just simple straight seams. To keep it from being overwhelming, I've divided her into nine small sections, so just take it one section at a time.👍
Let's get started! Hedwig uses five colors.
Background (A):
(10) 1 1/2" sq.
(3) 1 1/2 x 2 1/2"
(1) 1 1/2 x 4 1/2"
(1) 1 1/2 x 5 1/2"
(1) 2 1/2" sq.
(3) 2 1/2 x 3 1/2"
(1) 2 1/2 x 6 1/2"
(1) 4 1/2" sq.
(1) 5 1/2 x 8 1/2"
White (B):
(17) 1 1/2" sq.
(9) 1 1/2 x 2 1/2"
(5) 1 1/2 x 3 1/2"
(2) 2 1/2" sq.
(1) 2 1/2 x 3 1/2"
(1) 2 1/2 x 6 1/2"
(1) 3 1/2" sq.
Black (C):
(30) 1 1/2" sq.
(5) 1 1/2 x 2 1/2"

Don't forget to go and check out which block Lorna is doing this week over at Sew Fresh Quilts! And tag your pics with #hpqal2019 and #harrypotterquilt if you post your blocks on social media so we can all find you! If you're just finding the sew along, all of the info can be found by clicking here. This is the third block, and we've so far made Harry & the Cupboard Under the Stairs.
Harry's initials (another block with no clip & flip + a few less pieces!) are on deck for next weekend, so see you back here!
*CLICK HERE* for the downloadable PDF of this post. *correction to PDF: there should be (1) 2 1/2" sq. of background, not (2) in the cutting instructions. I caught that after the PDF was created.
Have a great weekend! Thanks for popping in, and Happy Stitching!
xoxo
