Harry Potter Quilt Week 9: Harry's Wand

Welcome back to Sew Along Saturday #9! This week it's Harry's wand.

This is one of those blocks that I knew I wanted in the quilt, but I didn't want it to look like just a straight stick. So after much doodling, I ended up with this.

Let's make a wand! Just three colors! That hasn't happened since the monogram block!

Keep in mind that for this block, (*) means 1 1/2" sq., (**) means 1 1/2 x 2 1/2" rect., and (x) means 1 1/2 x 2" rect.

Background (A):
(13) 1 1/2" sq.
(1) 1 1/2 x 2"

Block Assembly: Assemble as shown below and you have Harry's wand for your quilt! Okay, it might not look exactly like his wand from the movie, but a little artistic interpretation never hurt right? haha! For some reason, this is how it looked in my head reading the books.

I hope you're enjoying the sew along! I love seeing all of your blocks! If you share on social media, don't forget to tag them with #hpqal2019 and #harrypotterquilt so we can all see. Also, if you haven't yet, come join the sew along FB group and make some new friends! It's so much fun following everyone's progress. And don't forget to go check out which block is in the making this week over at @sewfreshquilts.

Happy Weekend! See you back here next week for block #10! Little pixelated Professor Snape!

And since it's the halfway point, there just might be a fun midway giveaway! See you then!

xoxo
