Hi Kelli! The first book is my favorite. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone! My son was in 2nd grade when it came out and we read it together. Then of course we had to get the next one and then the next one, etc. 26 years later and we are still buying the next one and now I am making an HP quilt for him. My son is grown now and still loves to read and will spend his hard earned money on books. I attribute his love for reading to Harry Potter.

Just shared on facebook. I don't tweet or instagram so can't share there. All my quilty friends are on facebook and many are HP fans.

I am not a Harry Potter fan but all of my grand kids are. I decided to make this quilt so when they come and stay with me they can have a Harry Potter quilt on their bed. Thanks for the pattern.

Jana said...

I learned to love Harry Potter as my children grew up reading the books and watching their imaginations grow and their love for reading each new book grow. That is why I purchased a kit for each of them of this quilt. I shared on facebook.

Love Harry Potter! The first book (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone) is my favorite and got me hooked.

My favorite Harry Potter book or movie is the one I am engaged with at the time! I read the series aloud twice to my youngest two kids (23 and 25 now :-) We also enjoyed the cds in the car and own all the movies.. We go to the theater to see the newest movies.... and anxiously wait for the dvd to come out! A Harry Potter marathon is still a New Year tradition in my house.... I cannot tell you how much fun it is to play with these patterns! Thank you for the fun :-)

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to make this quilt and for all the work you have done to make the terrific blocks.

Both Hubby and I are harry Potter fans.... I love all the movies... do not have a favorite.... We often watch and re watch the movies.. many times it is a marathon!!! where nothing else gets done... (well maybe hand work)
Thanks for the chance to win Heather

I am a lover of Harry Potter because it turned my 7 year old son into a reader. He was struggling with reading and then his teacher suggested I read him Harry Potter out loud (the first couple of books had just come out) and so I did. By the time I finished reading book number three, he was off and reading by himself. A couple of Harry Potter quilts are in my future; one for my son and one for my grandson. kthurn(at)bektel(dot)com

Hi Kelli! Definitely book #1, love when everything is new and they are so young and innocent. I love all the movies but some
Of the later ones get a little dark ‍♂️⚡️ Am so excited that we are half way, can’t believe it!

I haven't read any Harry Potter Books. But, I did see and liked the first movie of the first book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. My kids were teens when it came out and I believe they have read some Harry Potter books, not sure. I'm sharing this on fb and all the other social media. Yay

I loved reading the Harry Potter books along with my kids. My favorite is the first book because it brought the magic into our house. Making this quilt is a trip down memory lane and both my kids will be fighting over it. πŸ˜‚Thanks for sharing this quilt with all of us.

My whole family loves Harry Potter~ it all started with the first book and that is still my favorite! Thanks for the fun!!

Mindy said...

YES to Harry Potter! The last book came out the day my niece was born, and my birthday was a few days later, and I remember going to Walmart and buying it myself (which I never do) so I didn't have to wait and I didn't have to share! Totally worth it. I need to reread them again, again. And I'm slightly bummed that my daughter's birthday is the day BEFORE Harry's, not the same day.

Jay said...

The Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite in the series. I've now read the whole series through three times -- once via audio book. The stories never get old, nor do the movies.

My favorite book is Goblet of Fire! Love all your designs. Can't wait to finish the Harry Potter quilt and thank you for designing one.

My entire family loves the books. My oldest two have finished all seven books. My 13 year old is currently working on this quilt and it is fun to see her progress.

Yes I am a giant Harry Potter and so is my granddaughter! I am so enjoying making the weekly blocks!! I am sewing the small one but plan to do the large one also. Of course the first book was the start of out love for HP. Thanks for the wonderful quilt a long!!!!

Several years ago, while working in another county and driving to/from each day, I listened to all the HP books on CD. I enjoyed them all very much. I’d like to watch all the movies again in order of course.
Thanks, Peggy
peggy_verdongibbs@att.net

My family is HUGE Harry Potter fans. I just finished re-reading the first 6 books. Starting the 7th book next. My favorite book is Prisoner of Azakaban. I'm not a fan of the movies (they leave way too much out) but I do watch them. I'm not on FB, twitter, or anything else.

I read HP when it first came out and last year my daughter read the series (then age 8) so of course I had to start them again and still haven't finished book 1 because when do I have time to read? So my favourite book is probably the Goblet of Fire but they're all pretty awesome. We watched Fantastic Beasts last year too!

I am not a Harry Potter fan but my adult daughter is. I am making this as a surprise for her. She will be so thrilled! Thank you!!!

My son is a HUGE fan and read the entire series in just over three months. He hasn't watched the movies yet because he enjoyed the books more. His favorite book is the Goblet of Fire.

I happened to be at the mall when the 3rd book came out. On a whim, I bought the first 3 books for my husband who was a Tolkien fan thinking he might like to read them. Next thing I knew, both of us and all 5 of our grown kids were hooked. By the time the 5th book came out, we were pre-ordering 2 copies of the books so we didn't have to wait to read the books. Two copies of book 7 arrived around 2 pm the day it was released. We tore open the package, each grabbed a book, and went to our reading spot. Around 6 I realized we should eat dinner, but we didn't. I stopped reading at about 1:30 AM, went to bed, got up around 6 and started reading again. I finished the book around 9 and told my husband he would love the end. We also were in the theater for the midnight showing when a new movie came out. The last book will always have a place in my heart.

For me the books are "the real thing"

My 24 year old son has been watching since he was a little kid. We loved all of the movies. I read all of the books too. A couple years ago I did a movie marathon with my 9 year old. My favorite are the last three movies!!

I’m making this quilt for my grandson. We love all the books, but I feel in love with Harry in book one, my favorite.

I love making this quilt, it is so much fun and is going to look so great on MY bed. I have been a Harry Potter fan from the beginning, but I can never decide which book is my favorite, whichever I'm reading (or listening to) at the time is the fav. Thanks for this great QAL, I'm also doing the one at Sew Fresh, love that you guys are supporting each other.

Having a ball making these blocks! Can't wait for Saturday morning every week to get the next one! I'm not sure I can pick a favorite movie... they are a whole continuous thing, so I guess I have to pick one, it would be the first one, because that's where it all begins.

Julie said...

Good Morning. I am a Harry Potter fan. Loved all the books. As I read each one, it became my favorite until I read the next book.

Thanks for designing this quilt. Highlight of my week is downloading the HP patterns. I'm a middle school librarian and I have students ask on Monday morning if I finished the Harry Potter blocks. Trying to come up with a way to display them at school. I would have to say that the first book is my favorite since that started it all. My middle daughter (the true Harry Potter fan) tells me that the 4th (?) book is the best.

I share on Facebook.

Book 3 (Prisoner from Azkhaban) is my absolute favorite -- but the movie's artistic liberties are horrible so we really dislike the movie. We're true-ists here when it comes to anything Harry Potter.

My daughter is a huge HP fan! Made her a paper pieced HP quilt and thought she needed this one too. Goblet of Fire is my favorite.

This is a fun sew-along! I am a big HP fan - and have read/reread/watched all the books/movies. I like them all, but the Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite.

Unknown said...

I am absolutely loving this sew-along, I'm doing the quilt for my son's 12th birthday, he is such a Potterhead! I started reading HP from the year the first book was released - and I have been hooked ever since then! I am French and was an English student at the time, and HP opened such a wonderful new world for me. When my son turned 7, my sister got him the first book as a Christmas present. He had never read such a big book and didn't want to at first, but I made him read the first pages, and he was hooked. It triggered in him a great love for fantasy books, and he is a real bookworm now. My next goal is to make him read the whole series in English. The French translation is kind of ok, but the original version is so much richer and vibrant in my opinion!
Well I do hope he will love his surprise birthday present, because I certainly am putting all my heart and love in making it!

I shared this post on Facebook, and btw my favorite book remains forever the first one!

Hi Kelli, I'm doing the HPQAL because my daughter is such a huge fan and went nuts when she saw the quilt blocks. In fact, her daughter, my granddaughter is off to Brownie Camp tomorrow, and the theme is Harry Potter! I almost wish I'd had the quilt done for her LOL So I'm not really a fan, haven't read the books but I do love Fantastic Beasts one and two.

Thanks for this QAL,

Thanks Kelli for this great adventure, I'm really enjoying the challenge of the blocks a little behind but working on catching up. My Grandsons visited last week and are very excited to see my quilt wall with my completed blocks. I loves all the books but I think The Philospher's Stone is my favourite. It was so surprising.

I follow along here and Im an HP fan. If I were a character fromantic the books, there's a good chance I would be Luna Lovegood.

I am loving these quilts so far! My favorite book is Goblet of Fire. My favorite movie though is different and that is Deathly Hallows Part II. I love how they did Gringotts and the dragon escape scene. I think that was really well done.

I love HP the whole universe. I started with the books and book 3 is my favorite The Prisoner of Azkaban. The Half-Blood Prince comes in a close second. I have made a couple of HP quilts and I have another planned after this one. This has been my favorite. I look forward to a new block every week I am a few behind because of life. I will catch up soon. The problem is who gets the quilt once it is complete. Might have to make another. Love this pattern.

My favorite book is Prisoner of Azkaban.

My favorite book is The Prisoner of Azkaban, I loved the character, Sirius Black. I loved that he became Harry's Godfather and that he was a parental figure to him.
