Harry Potter Quilt: Potions #2

Thanks to Kay for sharing this, another option for a potions block for your Harry Potter quilt! It's super clever. And super simple!
And it can make excellent use of scraps, too!
It uses 11 fabrics and goes together in four sections, plus some background pieces.
**Important Note** All of the marked 2" squares in the diagrams in this post should be labeled
2 1/2" squares! My mistake! *face palm*
Let's get cutting!

Background (A):
(4) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
(1) 1 1/2 x 16 1/2"
(1) 2 1/2" sq.
(2) 2 1/2 x 3 1/2"
(1) 2 1/2 x 4 1/2"
(2) 2 1/2 x 5 1/2"
(1) 2 1/2 x 11 1/2"
(1) 2 1/2 x 18 1/2"
(1) 4 1/2 x 11 1/2"
Dark Brown (B):
(1) 1 1/2 x 7 1/2"
(1) 2 1/2" sq.
(1) 4 1/2 x 9 1/2"
Orange (C):
(1) 4 1/2 x 6 1/2"
Green (D):
(1) 3 1/2 x 5 1/2"
(1) 4 1/2 x 7 1/2"
Red (E):
(1) 1 1/2 x 9 1/2"
(1) 2 1/2" sq.
(1) 3 1/2 x 4 1/2"
Tan (F):
(1) 1 1/2 x 3 1/2"
Dark Gray (G):
(1) 1 1/2 x 3 1/2"
Off-White (H):
(2) 2 1/2" sq.
(1) 2 1/2 x 3 1/2"
Tan (I):
(1) 1 1/2 x 4 1/2"
Brown (J):
(1) 2 1/2 x 3 1/2"
White (K):
(1) 1 1/2 x 5 1/2"

Part 1:
~Using a 3 1/2 x 4 1/2" rect. of Fabric E (short edge at the top) and a 2 1/2" sq. of Fabric H, make one right lower clip & flip unit.
Right Lower Clip & Flip
1. Place square at lower end or right lower corner of rectangle or larger square, right sides together.
2. Stitch from right upper to left lower corner.
3. Clip, flip & press.
~Using a 4 1/2 x 9 1/2" rect. of Fabric B (short edge at the top) and a 2 1/2" sq. of Fabric E, make one left lower clip & flip unit.
Left Lower Clip & Flip
1. Place square at lower end or left lower corner of rectangle or larger square, right sides together.
2. Stitch from left upper to right lower corner.
3. Clip, flip & press.
~Assemble as shown below. Label as Part 1 and set aside.
Part 2: Assemble as shown below. Label as Part 2 and set aside.
Part 3:
~Place 2 1/2" sq. of Fabrics A & H right sides together. Stitch from corner to corner. Trim, flip & press. You will have one A/H 2 1/2" half square triangle.
~Using 1 1/2 x 5 1/2" rect. of Fabric K (long edge at the top) and (2) 1 1/2" sq. of Fabric A, make one double upper corner clip & flip unit.
Double Upper Corners
1. Place a square at the left end or left upper corner of a rectangle or larger square, right sides together.
2. Stitch from right upper to left lower corner.
3. Clip, flip & press.
4. Place a square at the right end or right upper corner of a rectangle or larger square, right sides together.
5. Stitch from left upper corner to right lower corner.
6. Clip, flip & press.
~Assemble as shown below. Label as Part 3 and set aside.
Part 4:
~Using 1 1/2 x 7 1/2" rect. (short edge at the top) and a 1 1/2" sq. of Fabric A, make one right lower clip & flip unit.
Right Lower Clip & Flip
1. Place square at lower end or right lower corner of rectangle or larger square, right sides together.
2. Stitch from right upper to left lower corner.
3. Clip, flip & press.
~Using 4 1/2 x 7 1/2" rect. of Fabric D (short edge at the top) and a 1 1/2" sq. of Fabric A, and the same steps as above, make one right lower clip & flip unit.
~Assemble as shown below. Label as Part 4 and set aside.
Block Assembly: Using your remaining pieces of background, and Parts 1-4, assemble as shown below.
You now have a few potions bottles to add to your Harry Potter quilt! Thanks again to Kay for sharing this block! I love that it's so scrap friendly. Your block should be 18 1/2" (18" finished in quilt).
