National Cake Day Quilt Block Tutorial
4:30 AM
Happy National Cake Day! There's a National Cake Day! So naturally, I HAD to have a cake block for my National Days scrap quilt, because who doesn't like cake. Well, there *might* be people in the world who don't like cake, but I'm not one of them. haha!
This sweet little calorie free cake is made from my scraps of Riley Blake basics. The polka dots are ?? years old! It turns out that I've been collecting Riley Blake fabric since before I even knew about them! When I found about about the different fabric companies, and selvages, etc. and started looking at where the fabrics I had hoarded were from, most of them were Riley Blake! So I'm dedicating this little cake to them for their 10th anniversary, and to celebrate getting to work more closely with them this year!🎉
So here's how to make my 8" scrap-friendly cake block. Which I had intended to make in pinks and aqua, until I found all the polka dots. I'm a sucker for dots! And red. But I think it would be fun to make a bunch of these little cakes in all of the scrap colors!
I see lots of these blocks in my future!

oh wow! That's adorable, Kelli!
At this rate you are either going to have a huge quilt or be done half way through the year. Or you could make multiple quilts, I guess.
I don't think I've ever owned any Riley Blake fabric.
Pat
What a "delicious" looking cake.
You could make a whole quilt with different flavors of cake.
