Harry Potter Quilt: Mad Eye Moody

Happy Wednesday! I'm back with another Harry Potter extra block today ~ this time it's Alastor Moody, aka Mad Eye Moody! He wasn't the easiest to configure but I'm happy with how he came out.

He has just a few corner flips but mostly simple straight seams. Here's how he goes together. You'll need 13 colors. I think this is a record! Mad Eye has a lot of parts.

Block Assembly: Assemble block according to the diagram below. You will have an 18 1/2" (18" finished) Mad Eye Moody Block!

=====================

I feel like he was kind of complicated. But hopefully you don't find him too difficult or discouraging. He was definitely a bit difficult to draw and then get into an 18" block. He went through several variations. When I googled his characteristics, it said he had gray hair, but he just looked better with blonde hair and it looked blondish in the movies. So I guess your hair color will depend on whether you're a book purist, or are going by the movies.📚🎥

I hope you enjoy piecing him together! If you post any pics of your Mad Eye blocks on IG, be sure to tag them with #hpqal2019 (even though it's almost 2020-ha!) and #harrypotterquilt, or tag me @kellifanninquilts, so we can all find them! It's so much fun to see different versions of the same block. If you're just finding these blocks, you can find all of the Harry Potter blocks/tutorials (40 now!) on the sew along page *HERE*, or by clicking on the Harry Potter Sew Along button over in the right side bar. You can also see lots of blocks and finished quilts popping up in the facebook sew along group *HERE*. Come join us!

I'll be back soon with another National Days Scrap Blocks tutorial.. there are some fun days coming up! Here's a clue➣🍋🍬 Can you guess? :D It has to do with family childhood memories so it's a fun addition to my scrap quilt.

Thanks for stopping by to meet Mad Eye! Hope you're having a great week!

Happy Stitching!

xoxo
