Four Leaf Clover Quilt Block Tutorial
10:07 PM
Hello! I'm back again with another of my National Days quilt blocks and tutorial from the month of March! This time, it's March's holiday. 🍀
It's a very basic lucky four leaf clover quilt block! This one should be pretty simple.
Let's get to it!
Fabric A (background):
(13) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
(2) 2 x 4"
Fabric B (clover):
(1) 1 1/2 x 5 1/2"
(2) 3 1/2 x 4 1/2"
(2) 4" sq.
Right Lower Clip & Flip
1. Place square at lower end or right lower corner of rectangle or larger square, right sides together.
2. Stitch from right upper to left lower corner.
3. Clip, flip & press.
- Using the above method, a 1 1/2" sq. of Fabric A, and a 1 1/2 x 5 1/2" rect. of Fabric B-short edge at the top, make one right lower corner clip & flip unit.
......................
Double Upper Corners
1. Place a square at the left end or left upper corner of a rectangle or larger square, right sides together.
2. Stitch from right upper to left lower corner.
3. Clip, flip & press.
4. Place a square at the right end or right upper corner of a rectangle or larger square, right sides together.
5. Stitch from left upper corner to right lower corner.
6. Clip, flip & press.
- Using the above method, (2) 1 1/2" sq. of Fabric A, and a 4" sq. of Fabric B, make one double upper corner clip & flip unit. REPEAT for total of two of these units.
- For each of these units, place a 1 1/2" sq. of Fabric A, right sides together, in a third corner. Stitch, clip & flip. You will have two of these units.
......................
- Using the same double upper corner method as in the above steps, (2) 1 1/2" sq. of Fabric A, and a 3 1/2 x 4 1/2" rect. of Fabric B-long edge at the top, make one double upper corner clip & flip unit. REPEAT for total of two of these units.
- With one of the units, place a 1 1/2" sq. of Fabric A in the left lower corner, right sides together. Stitch, clip & flip.
- For the other unit, place a 1 1/2" sq. of Fabric A in the right lower corner, right sides together. Stitch, clip & flip. You will have these two units.
.......................
Assemble block as shown below. You will have one 8 1/2" (8" finished) scrappy four leave clover quilt block! A little late for THIS St. Patrick's Day, but ready to rep ALL St. Patrick's Days in my National Days scrap quilt!
That's it for this quick block! I'll link it up over on the National Days quilt blocks page, *HERE* with all of the others. I think this is #39. Or you can also get there by clicking the button over in the right side bar. Or the tutorials tab at the top up there. Thanks for popping in! I've got three more March days' blocks sketched up and almost ready to post, so there's more to come, hopefully soon!
I hope you're surviving this shut down experience as well as possible, and hope to see you back here soon!
Happy Stitching!

P.S. 2021 *Update* I made a video tutorial of this block over on youtube. You can view it *here*. It's about a minute long. Having fun making little video jingles to go with some of these block tutorials.
