I'm Feeling Sew Chatty!
1:55 PM
Hello, friends! 🌞
Welcome! My name is Kelli Fannin and today I'm doing a post for the Riley Blake Designs Virtual Quilt Market. I'm so excited to share my very first fabric line, Sew Chatty! I love a good pun, I love to sew, and through sewing I discovered a love of design. I design quilt patterns and work with Riley Blake a lot, doing quilt designs that showcase their various fabric lines. I love it! Fabric design was never really my thing, but when I started sketching out all of these punny sewing characters last year, I started thinking they would be really fun on fabric!
The gal below is one of my favorites! When my mom saw her, she gasped and used my middle name. Kelli Denise! What? She's a seam stripper! She strips seams. I bet more than one toddler in the world has accidentally called his parent's or grandparent's seam ripper the seam stripper.ðŸ¤
Thankfully, Riley Blake believed in my band of punny and colorful characters, and a few months later, here they are! I couldn't be happier with it. There are actually so many more characters that didn't make it onto the fabric~ha!
When I was drawing them, I started thinking how cute they would be on curtains, pajamas, pin cushions, fussy cut quilt blocks, and just ALL the things! They were just so much fun to draw. Bright colorful fabrics make me happy.
One night I was drawing and texting my friend, Lauren, and I sent her a sewing pun. She texted back, "I'm too hexi for my shirt." We died laughing. Shout out to my 80's friends! Look in the above pic, who made it onto the fabric!
So many memories of friends, family and experiences are woven throughout this fabric. Full Court Press reminds me of my dad taking our family to Warrior basketball games when we were younger and also of taking my son to his first game there.
I could talk on and on about each one. Another of my favorites is Pin Pals. I loved having pen pals as a kid (actual snail mail/pen and paper), so of course there had to be a Pin Pals cartoon. I need to make a Pin Pals pin cushion!
There are two prints, and three color options for each one.

The cartoons in the grid print are about 4".
Then there's a toss print, where the characters are about the right size to be fussy cut into a 2.5" square if one desires..
The colors are bright and cheery and I hope you enjoy sewing with these guys as much as I enjoyed drawing them! Press On reminds me to never give up. Bermuda Triangle makes me think of tropical vacations.
Here are just a few project inspiration photos.
I designed these two patterns with this fabric in mind, Quiltmaster and Shoephoria. They showcase each cartoon.
But I've seen several other cute projects popping up.
Pillow covers, pillow cases, tissue box holders..
Sewing room accessories..
Apron, fabric bucket, sewing machine carrying bag..
Fun skirt, pajama pants..
There are also a lot of fun accessories available. T-shirts..
Zipper pouches..
Tote bags.. Don't Cross Me is a shout out to my cross stitching friends!
And patches..
I love the patches!

Congrats on your fabric line! Looks super cute.
This is wonderful! Colorful, tropical, humorous, practical - 2.5" fussy cut, and Just so Fun!! Then all the "Swag" Oh Wow :) XOXO right back at you! Thank you! The possibilities are endless! Woot! Woot!
Congratulations on your fabric line. So cool that it is your first. This is a special occasion. Time to celebrate. (song included) They are so fun and bright. I love them. LOL especially the Seam Stripper. True story: I started teaching my son to sew by hand when he was five because he was interested. And yes he used the seam ripper a lot. Heather was three at the time and she thought she heard "seam stripper" and she had no idea what a stripper was. Other than what we used in the garage on wood with paint. LOL Have a fabulous day.
Great fabric line!! When is it scheduled to release?
I love the patterns you designed for these fabrics. I finally found some yardage, but I haven't had time to recover my ironing board with it yet.
