Apple Quilt Block Tutorial
6:43 PM
Happy Wednesday Evening to you!
I'm back with another quilt block for my National Days scrap quilt project. This block is for National Vitamin C Day, which was back on April 4th. My plan has always been to make 144 8" blocks and then sash together for a king size scrap quilt. I was doing pretty good keeping up with these as I went along, but then covid happened. Ugh. And now I'm behind with the calendar, but I'm just going to keep plugging along. So here we are with the April blocks and some Vitamin C! Up with Vitamin C! Down with Scurvy! 😃 For this block, I started out thinking citrus, but ultimately ended up with an apple.🍎
Just like the rainbow block from a couple of days ago, I think this one would make a cute quilt by itself, too. Different red shades, green, yellow. All the apple varieties.
I mocked one up, really quickly. Here's what it would look like. I don't hate it! You'd just need 30 8" apple blocks. No sash. It would be 40 x 48".
Anyway, hooray for Vitamin C!
Here's how it goes together.
Fabric A (background):
(2) 1 1/4" sq. (@)
(2) 1 1/4 x 6 1/2"
(2) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
(2) 2 1/2" sq.
(1) 2 1/2 x 3"
(2) 2 1/2 x 3 1/4"
Fabric B (green leaf):
(4) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
Fabric C (white square):
(1) 1 1/4" sq. (@)
Fabric D (brown stem):
(1) 1 x 1 1/2" (~)
Fabric E (apple):
(1) 1 1/4 x 1 1/2"
(2) 1 1/2 x 3 1/2" (***)
(1) 2 1/4 x 2 3/4"
(2) 2 1/2 x 3 3/4"
(1) 3 1/2 x 5 1/4"
