Nebraska Quilt Block Tutorial
10:16 PM
Hello, friends!🌽🌞
You're probably wondering what's up with the corn emoji. Well, the next block for my National Days scrap quilt that I had on my list was a block for National Nebraska Day-which was back on April 5th. When I looked up the shape of the state, it wasn't really fitting well into my 8" block, so then I noticed the "N" for University of Nebraska. Whose mascot is the Cornhusker. So.. corn emoji. :) And a great big "N" for Nebraska!
Anyway! Happy Belated National Nebraska Day! I wanted to include Nebraska in my scrap quilt because we drove up to Lincoln last summer on a big road trip.
It was really fun. We went to the International Quilt Study Center and Museum in Lincoln. My hub was so kind to let us go out of our way to throw that in as a stop.
Another fun thing we spotted in Lincoln is what appeared to be a sidewalk sweeper. ??
Here in CA we have the occasional street sweeper cleaning the streets, although I can't remember the last time I saw one. But in Lincoln.. this little baby was cleaning the sidewalks! The west coast needs some of these! I love it! .. Then we passed the capitol.
And some colorful murals.. It was just a really neat city to stop in.
So to remind me of our road trip and Lincoln, NE memories, I'm including a Nebraska related block in my National Days scrap quilt.
Here's how it goes together.
Fabric A (background):
(4) 1 1/4 x 2"
(2) 1 3/4 x 2 3/4"
(2) 1 3/4 x 3"
(2) 1 3/4 x 3 1/4"
(2) 2 1/2" sq.
(2) 3 1/4 x 3 1/2"
Fabric B (N):
(2) 1 1/2 x 3"
(4) 2" sq.

You will have an 8 1/2" (8" finished) N block for Nebraska, or the University of Nebraska if you know any alumni that might like a quilt. Or a Nancy, or Nora.. Here is what a quilt of scrappy Ns would look like. :)
You could use solids, plaid flannels, anything really. Batiks.. so many options.
I'm going to link this block up over on the National Days quilt blocks page, where I'm keeping all the posts and tutorials organized. If you make any of these blocks and post them on social media, please come find me and tag me so I can see! I love seeing everyone's projects! @kellifanninquilts on IG, or on FB *HERE*. If you want to see some of these blocks and blocks from the Harry Potter, Minecraft and/or Pokemon sew alongs, come join the FB sew along group! It's such a fun and creative group of kind and helpful quilters!
I'll be back soon with another block.
Until then, Happy Stitching!
xoxo

thank you Kelli for sharing another wonderful block. This looks like it was a fun trip. That is so different. A sidewalk sweeper. We have street sweepers here all the time. This would be cool.
