Girl Superhero Quilt Block Tutorial
3:26 PM
Hi again! 🐪
It's Wednesday ~ Happy Hump Day! I'm trucking along with catching up on my National Days quilt blocks for my scrap quilt, and I've worked my way up to National Superhero Day, which was back on April 28th. And for this day, I've drawn a sewing Wonder Woman. 🦸
She should go together pretty easily, and only has a few clip and flip corners. After the Harry Potter sew along ended (the official part-the extra blocks are still in progress), someone mentioned doing a Superhero sew along. That might be kind of fun! Wonder Woman's kind of cute! I'm wondering what the others would look like.
Here is how quilty, scrappy Wonder Woman goes together.
Fabric A (black/hair):
(1) 1 x 2 1/2" (>>)
(4) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
(2) 1 1/2 x 8 1/2"
(2) 2 x 2 1/2"
Fabric B (gold/crown):
(1) 1 x 1 1/2" (>)
(1) 1 1/2 x 2 1/2" (**)
(2) 2 x 3"
Fabric C (skin tone):
(4) 1" sq. (~)
(2) 1 x 1 1/2" (>)
(2) 1 1/2 x 2 1/2" (**)
(1) 1 1/2 x 6 1/2"
(2) 2 1/2" sq.
(1) 2 1/2 x 3 1/2"
Fabric D (red/mouth):
(1) 1 1/2 x 2 1/2" (**)
Fabric E (red/crown jewel):
(1) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
Fabric F (blue/eyes):
(2) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
Fabric G (white/eyes):
(2) 1 x 1 1/2" (>)
Double Upper Corners

2. Stitch from right upper to left lower corner.
3. Clip, flip & press.
4. Place a square at the right end or right upper corner of a rectangle or larger square, right sides together.
5. Stitch from left upper corner to right lower corner.
6. Clip, flip & press.

*Using above method, (2) 1 1/2" sq. of Fabric A and 1 1/2 x 2 1/2" rect. of Fabric B-long edge at the top, make one unit.
*Repeat using (2) 1 1/2" sq. of Fabric A and 1 1/2 x 6 1/2" rect. of Fabric C-long edge at the top.
*Repeat using (2) 1" sq. of Fabric C and 1 1/2 x 2 1/2" rect. of Fabric D-long edge at the top.
--Rotate & Repeat-- Rotate this unit around and using (2) additional sq. of Fabric C, repeat for the remaining two corners.

Using scant quarter inch seams, assemble block as shown below. You will have an 8 1/2" (8" finished) Wonder Woman quilt block!

As always, if you make a Wonder Woman or any of these National Days quilt blocks, or any of my designs, and post pics of them anywhere, please come tag me/find me at any of these places, I'd love to see!
If you'd like to see lots of blocks made up from this, or the Minecraft, Harry Potter, or Pokemon sew alongs, come join the sew along group on my FB page. Everyone there is so supportive!
I'll be back soon with the next National Day that I had drawn a block for, National Zipper Day!
In the meantime, I hope you're staying healthy and having a great week! Thanks for popping in today to read.
Happy Stitching!
xoxo
