Harry Potter Quilt: Time-Turner Quilt Block Tutorial

Oculus Reparo! 👓

There! Now that my glasses are fixed, it's time for the next in line, of the extra Harry Potter quilt blocks. This time, I'm doing the Time-Turner!

If you'd like to read more about the Time-Turner and what it was used for in the Harry Potter series, you can find more info *HERE*.

This block has only a handful of colors, but lots of pieces! Here is how to put it together. Remember to use scant quarter inch seams throughout, when assembling the sections, as well as the whole block.

Fabric A (background):
(28) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
(16) 1 1/2 x 2 1/2" (**)
(4) 1 1/2 x 3"
(4) 1 1/2 x 4"
(2) 1 1/2 x 6 1/2"
(2) 1 1/2 x 8 1/2"
(4) 2 1/2" sq.
(4) 2 1/2 x 4 1/2"

(4) 1 1/2 x 6 1/2"
(4) 1 1/2 x 8 1/2"
(2) 2 x 4 1/2"
(2) 2 1/2 x 4 1/2"

Section 1: Assemble as shown below. Label as Section 1 and set aside. Then, REPEAT! You will need TWO Section 1 units. They will mirror each other in the final block assembly.

Section 2: Assemble as shown below. Label as Section 2 and set aside. Then, REPEAT! You will need TWO Section 2 units. They will mirror each other in the final block assembly.

---------------------

Section 3: Assemble as shown below. Label as Section 3 and set aside. Then, REPEAT! You will need TWO Section 3 units. They will mirror each other in the final block assembly.

Section 6: Assemble as shown below. Label as Section 6 and set aside.

Block Assembly: Using scant quarter inch seams, assemble block as shown below. Take special care in how your sections are oriented. It's easy to mix them up and stitch them in the wrong way for this block, so be careful! Breaking out the seam ripper is no fun, when you think you've finished and then see something put in the wrong way! For me anyway. Ugh. ha! In the end, you will have an 18 1/2" Time-Turner block (18" finished).
