Lemonade Quilt Block Tutorial



Happy Friday!🍋🧉

I'm back with another National Days quilt block for my scrap quilt. This one is for National Lemonade Day which was on May 2nd.
Break out those yellow scraps!




This block just has a few clip & flip corners and a few smaller pieces but it's pretty straight forward.

Here is how it goes together. 




Fabric A (background):
(3) 1" sq. (~)
(1) 1 x 1 3/4"
(2) 1 1/4" sq. (+)
(1) 1 1/4 x 1 1/2"
(1) 1 1/4 x 3"
(1) 1 1/4 x 4 1/4"
(1) 1 1/2 x 3 1/4"
(1) 1 3/4" sq.
(1) 2 x 6"
(2) 2 1/4 x 3"
(1) 3 x 6"


Fabric B (lemonade):
(1) 1 x 1 1/4" (@)
(2) 1 x 1 1/2" (>)
(2) 1 x 2"
(1) 1 1/2 x 3 1/2" (***)
(1) 1 3/4 x 3 1/2"


Fabric C (wedge rind):
(2) 1" sq. (~)
(1) 1 x 2 1/4"


Fabric D (lemon):
(1) 3 1/4" sq.


Fabric E (green leaf):
(1) 1 1/2" sq. (*)


Fabric F (ice cube):
(2) 1 1/2" sq. (*)


Fabric G (glass):
(1) 1 x 1 3/4"
(1) 1 1/4" sq.
(1) 1 3/4" sq.


Fabric H (straw):
(1) 1 x 2 1/4"
(1) 2 1/4" sq.





Right Lower Clip & Flip

1. Place square at lower end or right lower corner of rectangle or larger square, right sides together.
2. Stitch from right upper to left lower corner.
3. Clip, flip & press.




*Using 2 1/4" sq. of Fabric H and 2 1/4 x 3" rect. of Fabric A-short edge at the top, make one unit.
--Using same unit, and 1 3/4" sq. of Fabric A in the same corner, repeat steps.

Left Lower Clip & Flip

1. Place square at lower end or left lower corner of rectangle or larger square, right sides together.
2. Stitch from left upper to right lower corner.
3. Clip, flip & press.




*Using 1 1/2" sq. of Fabric E and 1 1/2 x 3 1/4" rect. of Fabric A-short edge at the top, make one unit.




*Using 1 1/4" sq. of Fabric A and 3 1/4" sq. of Fabric D, make one unit. 
--Place a 1 1/4" sq. of Fabric A in the opposite corner and repeat steps.

Double Upper Corners

1. Place a square at the left end or left upper corner of a rectangle or larger square, right sides together.
2. Stitch from right upper to left lower corner.
3. Clip, flip & press.
4. Place a square at the right end or right upper corner of a rectangle or larger square, right sides together.
5. Stitch from left upper corner to right lower corner.
6. Clip, flip & press.




*Using (2) 1" sq. of Fabric A and 1 x 2 1/4" rect. of Fabric C-long edge at the top, make one unit.

*Using scant quarter inch seams, assemble as shown below. You will have an 8 1/2" lemonade block (8" finished). 




This block makes me want to have a great big tall glass of lemonade. :)
