Telephone Quilt Block Tutorial
8:13 PM
Happy Monday!
If you have the Monday blues, maybe a colorful old fashioned telephone will cheer you up! ☎😃 National Telephone Day was the next block on deck for my National Days scrap quilt so I just got it all dissected! It's official day was back on Apr. 25th. Here is what it looks like. It was really challenging, and took a while to get it to look like a rotary phone, with the right proportions, but I like how it ended up, finally! There were a few minutes where I wondered if it would EVER look like a phone!
Here's how it goes together.

Fabric A (background):
(2) 1 x 1 1/2" (>)
(4) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
(2) 1 1/2 x 5"
(1) 1 1/2 x 6 1/2"
(1) 2 x 8 1/2"
Fabric B (receiver-purple):
(2) 1" sq. (~)
(1) 1 1/2 x 4 1/2" (****)
(2) 2 x 2 1/2"
Fabric C (dial/trim-pink):
(2) 1 x 2 1/2" (>>)
(2) 1 1/4 x 3 1/2"
(2) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
Fabric D (phone-turquoise):
(2) 1" sq. (~)
(4) 1 1/4" sq. (+)
(1) 1 1/2 x 4 1/2" (****)
(1) 1 1/2 x 6 1/2"
(2) 2 x 2 1/2"
Fabric E (dial center-green):
(1) 1 1/2" sq.

Assemble your telephone block as shown below, using scant quarter inch seams. It will be 8 1/2" just like all of these National Days scrap blocks, 8" finished when your quilt is all stitched up.
Hooray for telephones! 📞
If you end up making a telephone block, and posting any of these National Days quilt blocks online, come find me and tag me, I'd love to see! Here's where you can find me ➤ @kellifanninquilts on IG, or *HERE* at my FB page, or in the sew along group on FB *HERE*, where you can see lots of blocks from this and the free Minecraft, Pokemon, and Harry Potter sew alongs.
I think the next block on my list is for National Pretzel Day so I'll be back with that one soon. And I'm hoping to get the Time Turner written up for the Harry Potter quilt after that. Here's a little preview. It kind of almost looks like a weird face, but that's my pretzel!
That's it for this Monday! I hope your week is off to a good start and see you soon.
Happy Stitching!
xoxo

The high School I graduated from is Freeport Pretzels. I believe it is the only school mascot in the country with that name. I'm looking forward to seeing your pattern for the pretzel.
