Food Quilt Block: French Fries Tutorial

Happy Saturday! Today, I have another food quilt block to share! So many National Days have to do with food. The next quilt block tutorial for my National Days scrap quilt project is for National French Fry Day (July 13th). Who doesn't love a good french fry? Do you prefer regular or sweet potato fries? I love both, but these are regular fries. This block uses some thin scrap strips and only a couple of corner flips.

First, I thought it would be fun to see how many food blocks I've got so far, so I went back through them. There's soda, espresso, cake, cupcake, candy, milk, strawberry, peanut butter & jelly, apple, pretzel, lemonade, buttermilk biscuits, bbq, olives, egg, donut, and now fries! Wow, I didn't realize there were so many! This is the 17th food block! And there are lots more coming up - really fun ones.

Good times! I need to make some hot pads! These would make great Christmas gifts! Here is a National BBQ Day hot pad from @nvquilter and a National Egg Day hot pad from @debra.lou over on Instagram. I just took quick screen shots to show you. They're sooo cute!

So, here's how to stitch up the next food block: zero calorie, low fat, high in fiber-ha! french fries. :)

P.S. I love to see blocks and quilts that are made with any of my patterns. If you make any and post on social media, please come find me in any of the places listed below, and tag me so I can see! :) If you're on YouTube, check out the short musical video tutorials of some of these blocks. I'm hoping they might inspire kids, or anyone really, to learn to sew. :) Plus, they're just fun to do.

I'm keeping all of these blocks organized on the National Days quilt blocks page *HERE*if you're looking for any of the other 90 or so blocks I've posted so far. Getting closer to my goal of 144 blocks! If you know someone who loves MinecraftPokemon, and or Harry Potter, check out these free sew alongs, too! :) And if you're looking for any of my print patterns, or other fun quilty gifts, check out my Etsy shop here. Be back soon!

Thank you for the French fry block. At my age, I'm not supposed to eat them.
At least I can enjoy them in fabric. It will be fun to make the block. Unfortunately, no matter how cute it is, it won't take away my cravings.
