Seriously..I think it needs stitches.: Lipstick Quilt Block / Makeup Tutorial

Hola! Today I have a makeup tutorial for you. :) Not THAT kind of makeup tutorial, THIS kind of makeup tutorial.🠟 For my National Days scrap quilt project! (For National Lipstick Day, which was on July 29.)

Because my favorite kind of makeup tutorials involve fabric! 💄 Go forth and make lipsticks in all the colors! This block is super simple. And as always, scrap friendly.

Here are the details..

Fabric A - Background

(4) 1 x 3 1/2" (>>>)

(2) 1 1/4 x 1 1/2" (+)

(5) 1 1/2" sq. (*)

(2) 1 1/2 x 2 3/4"

(2) 2 x 2 3/4"

(1) 2 1/4 x 8 1/2"

Fabric B - Outer Case

(3) 2 1/2 x 3 1/2"

Fabric C - Inner Case

(3) 1 1/2 x 2" (#)

Fabric D - Lipstick Color

(3) 1 1/2 x 2 3/4"

--Match the symbols (*,+ etc.) in the cutting instructions with the symbols in the assembly diagram.

Left Upper Clip & Flip

1. Place square at upper end or left upper corner of rectangle or larger square, right sides together.
2. Stitch from right upper to left lower corner.
3. Clip, flip & press.

--Using above method, 1 1/2" sq. of Fabric A and 1 1/2 x 2 3/4" rect.-short edge at the top, make one unit. --Repeat for total of three of these units.

--Assemble as shown below, using SCANT quarter inch seams.

You'll have an 8 1/2" lipstick quilt block! (8" finished in quilt.)

This one is really fun. I like that you can use lots of scrap colors. There are so many different shades of lipstick. Peaches, browns, burgundies, so many possibilities. And that is the only kind of makeup tutorial that you'll ever see here. haha I'll stick to fabric!
