Harry Potter Quilt: Sirius Black Quilt Block Tutorial

Welcome back! It's high past time for Sirius Black to join the other Harry Potter quilt block tutorials on the Harry Potter sew along page, so today, he does just that! Here is my fabric version of Sirius. :)
He is just like the others, all straight seams and traditional piecing, but does have two half square triangles.
Here are his details:
Fabric A - Background
(7) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
(8) 1 1/2 x 2 1/2" (**)
(1) 1 1/2 x 4 1/2" (****)
(1) 1 1/2 x 6 1/2"
(1) 2 1/2" sq.

(2) 3 1/2 x 5 1/2"
(1) 4 1/2 x 5 1/2"
(1) 5 1/2" sq.
Fabric B - Hair
(8) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
(4) 1 1/2 x 2 1/2" (**)
(1) 1 1/2 x 3 1/2" (***)
(3) 2 1/2" sq.
(1) 2 1/2 x 3 1/2"
(1) 2 1/2 x 4 1/2"
(1) 3 1/2" sq.
Fabric C - Skin
(9) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
(2) 1 1/2 x 2 1/2" (**)
(2) 1 1/2 x 4 1/2" (****)
(1) 2 1/2" sq.

Fabric D - Coat
(8) 1 1/2" sq. (*)

Fabric H - Wand

(1) 1 1/2 x 5 1/2"
Fabric I - White (eyes)
(2) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
Fabric J - Silver (eyes)
(2) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
--Match the symbols (*,** etc.) in the cutting instructions with the symbols in the assembly diagram.
Part 1: Assemble as shown below. Label as Part 1 and set aside.

Part 2: Assemble as shown below. Label as Part 2 and set aside.

Part 3: Assemble as shown below. Label as Part 3 and set aside.

Part 4: Assemble as shown below. Label as Part 4 and set aside.

Part 5:
Double Half Square Triangle (HST)
1. Place two squares right sides together.
2. Trace a line from corner to corner.
3. Stitch scant 1/4" from the line on both sides.
4. Cut on the line, separating the two HSTs.
5. Press open.

-Using 2 7/8" sq. of Fabrics F and G and above method, make two 2 1/2" HSTs.
-Assemble as shown below. Label as Part 5 and set aside.

Part 7: Assemble as shown below. Label as Part 7 and set aside.

Part 8: Assemble as shown below. Label as Part 8 and set aside.

Part 9: Assemble as shown below. Label as Part 9 and set aside.

Block Assembly: Assemble block as shown below using Parts 1-9 and larger fabric pieces.
You should have an 18 1/2" sq. Sirius Black quilt block. (18" finished in quilt.)
