Pumpkin Quilt Block Tutorial for National Pumpkin Day
7:59 PM
Hello, Fall! Finally! I'm so ready for cooler weather. So much that I've been tempted to turn the AC down far enough so I can wear a hoodie around the house. But the threat of rolling blackouts in my state and the fact that it would make our electric bill shoot up to a million dollars a month has kept me from it. Hopefully it will cool off soon!
It's fall weather here on my website though, so I'm sharing the next quilt block tutorial in line for my National Days scrap quilt project, the block for National Pumpkin Day! The actual day is October 26, so it's a tiny bit early for that, but right on time for the beginning of fall. Here is your Fall pumpkin!
It's a happy pumpkin! :) This is how it goes together.. It has quite a few smaller corner flips, which means it uses up those smaller scraps!
Fabric A - background:
(3) 1" sq. (~)
(5) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
(1) 1 1/2 x 8 1/2"
(1) 1 3/4 x 2 1/2"
(1) 2 1/2 x 2 3/4"
(1) 2 1/2 x 3 1/2"
Fabric B - orange #1:
(8) 1" sq. (~)
(2) 1 1/2" sq. (*)

Fabric C - orange #2:

(2) 1 1/2 x 5 1/2"
Fabric D - stem:
(1) 1" sq. (~)
(1) 1 x 1 1/2" (>)
(1) 1 1/2" sq. (*)
Fabric E - leaf:
(1) 1 3/4" sq.
--Match the symbols (~,* etc.) in the cutting instructions with the symbols in the assembly diagram.
--------------------
Once you've completed the above clip & flip units, assemble block as shown below using SCANT quarter inch seams.
Here it is in all the different oranges. They're sew fun! Get out all the orange scraps! :)
That's all for now! I'll be back soon.
Take care and HAPPY STITCHING!
xoxo,

P.S. I love to see blocks and quilts that are made with any of my patterns. If you make any and post on social media, please come find me in any of the places listed below, and tag me so I can see! :) If you're on YouTube, check out the short musical video tutorials of some of these blocks. I'm hoping they might inspire kids, or anyone really, to learn to sew. :) Plus, they're just fun to do.
I'm keeping all of these blocks organized on the National Days quilt blocks page *HERE*, if you're looking for any of the other 100+ blocks I've posted so far. Getting closer to my goal of 144 blocks! If you know someone who loves Minecraft, Pokemon, and or Harry Potter, check out these free sew alongs, too! :) And if you're looking for any of my print patterns, or other fun quilty gifts, check out my Etsy shop here. Be back soon!
xx
