Food Quilt Block Tutorial for National Bread Day
7:21 PM
Hello! Welcome back! I have some more foodie quilt block fun to share today. Because what's better than food? Fabric food!
It's been a while since I posted another free quilt block tutorial for my National Days scrap quilt project. I am getting so close to the end.. There are only just a few left now, and then I'll have worked my way through an entire year's worth of scrap block tutorials, and I can share the whole king size quilt grid with you! I can't wait! The next block in line is for National Bread Day, which was actually on November 17th this year.
It's not too complicated and only has a couple of units that require some corner flips. Here's how to put it together..
Fabric A - background:
(4) 1" sq. (~)
(1) 1 x 1 3/4"
(1) 1 x 2"
(2) 1 1/4 x 4 1/2"
(1) 3 x 8 1/2"
Fabric B - bread (dark):
(2) 1" sq. (~)
(1) 1 x 2"
(1) 1 3/4 x 3 3/4"
(1) 2 3/4 x 4 1/4"
Fabric C - bread (light):
(1) 2 x 2 1/4"
(1) 2 1/2 x 3 1/4"
Fabric D - cutting board:
(1) 1 x 7"
Fabric E - table:
(1) 2 x 8 1/2"
--Be sure to match the symbols (~) in the cutting instructions with the symbols in the assembly diagram.
Using the simple corner flip method illustrated in the video above, and fabrics and sizes indicated on the unit, make the following corner flip units.
Once those two units are done, assemble your quilt block as shown below, being sure to use SCANT quarter inch seams.
You will have an 8 1/2" sq. loaf of bread! (8" finished in quilt)
Happy Stitching! I'll be back very soon with more!
xoxo,

P.S. I love to see blocks and quilts that are made with any of my patterns. If you make any and post on social media, please come find me in any of the places listed below, and tag me so I can see! :) If you're on YouTube, check out the short musical video tutorials of some of these blocks. I'm hoping they might inspire kids, or anyone really, to learn to sew. :) Plus, they're just fun to do.
I'm keeping all of these blocks organized on the National Days quilt blocks page *HERE*, if you're looking for any of the other 100+ blocks I've posted so far. Getting closer to my goal of 144 blocks! If you know someone who loves Minecraft, Pokemon, and or Harry Potter, check out these free sew alongs, too! :) And if you're looking for any of my print patterns, or other fun quilty gifts, check out my Etsy shop here. Be back soon!
xx
